TecQuipment’s 2016 Partners Conference

Several members of the AYVA Team recently travelled to England for TecQuipment’s Global Selling Partners Conference. Representatives from more than 50 territories were in attendance and it was a great opportunity to network with other educational suppliers. This past year was TQ’s most successful year to date and we were excited and thankful to receive the Agent of the Year Award for 2015.

Over the course of 3 days the TecQuipment Team outdid themselves with in-depth product demonstrations combined with hands-on training for their full range of trainers. These product sessions ranged from fluid dynamics to thermodynamics to material testing and much more. They also introduced us to their new free and forced Vibration series before taking us on a very impressive tour of TecQuipment’s factory – where they manufacture all of their products in house with unparalleled attention to detail.

In keeping with TecQuipment’s work hard, play hard mentality; we also visited the Donington Grand Prix Collection which was filled with Formula 1 cars and World War II Vehicles. On our last night, we all attended the Medieval Sheriffs Banquet in Nottingham where we were entertained by jugglers and musicians while enjoying a great feast.

All and all, it was a wonderful trip and we can’t wait until the next one.

Our Trip to TecQuipment

TecQuipment: New Vibrations Range

We are thrilled to announce TQ’s new range of Vibrations products! These consist of a modular series for studying Free Vibration (TM160-TM167) as well as the stand-alone Free and Forced Vibrations (TM1016).

Free Vibrations Experiments (TM160-TM167)

This series is a modular system that is focused on free vibrations. There are seven products in the series, all of which fit onto the new Free Vibrations Test Frame (TM160). These products are a perfect introduction for the new Free and Forced Vibrations unit (TM1016).

Free and Forced Vibrations (TM1016)

This is a self-contained bench top unit which allows students to study the free and forced vibrations of a rigid beam with a spring and a simply supported beam. Forcing the vibration allows more advanced studies to be completed, such as using a vibration absorber and the dynamic effects of damping.

On June 15 & 16, AYVA visited the ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education) conference held in Seattle this year. The conference spanned over 5 days and included lectures, workshops and an exhibitor hall.

Dianne Beveridge, President of AYVA, and Quentin Dus, sales representative, were able to meet with several of our product partners such as the British manufacturer TecQuipment, and the American brand PASCO Scientific.

The conference was well attended (with over 4000 participants) and our partners’ booths were visited by numerous engineering professors, interested in learning more about the lab equipment available for their teaching needs.

If you wish to know more about these brands as well as our other engineering product lines, please visit our partners page.

Remote Training: MATRIX’s Modern Electrical Machines

A new add-on to the electrical machines training system, allows students of electrical or power engineering to understand how electrical machines are modeled by an equivalent circuit so that their performance can be predicted. The new locked-rotor equipment allows for study of our new Advanced Electrical Machines course and the system can now also be controlled over the internet as part of a remote lab.

Modern electrical machines training system is a revolutionary way of safely studying the characteristics of different motor types in a learning environment. This solution includes eight different types of machine, integrated power supply and control box and PC-based applications for advanced controller of the different machine types. Further to this, we provide four separate curriculum manuals for teaching electrical machines principles using manual control with external meters, using PC control and also control using MATLAB.

PIGNAT installation at Sheridan College

PIGNAT engineer Régis Rodriguez spent 2 days in Sheridan College last week to train the Chemical Engineering Technology department on their new equipment:

As a pioneer in automation technology, KUKA Robotics is one of the leading manufacturers of robotic systems worldwide – and Number 1 in Europe!

AYVA was pleased to attend the 3-day conference where KUKA formally launched their new KORE Curriculum Bundle, designed specifically for the education market.

KUKA Kore packages include training, curriculum, course labs, tests and student manuals. Learn more

KUKA also featured their new lightweight IIWA collaborative robot which allows humans and robots to work together on highly sensitive tasks.

Marcraft tabletop trainers

Laureena Ssali recently hosted a visitor from SAIT (Calgary) who was interested in seeing a Marcraft installation of the Renewable Energy & Sustainability trainers.

Seneca College added Solar, Wind, Hydro Power and Bio Fuels tabletop trainers, some of which are pictured above.

These popular trainers are found at community colleges across Canada.

PIGNAT’s Refrigeration Cycle Unit at University of Windsor

PIGNAT’s Technical Specialist, Regis Rodriguez was at University of Windsor at the end of May to install a recently purchased Refrigeration Cycle Unit. He also provided a day-long training session to graduate students, instructors, and professors. Everyone in attendance found it very informative and was excited to start using the equipment. Click here to find out more about this unit.

In the past, several PASCO, Tecquipment and Elettronica Veneta equipment have also been purchased by the University from AYVA.

20th Annual Skills Canada Competition

Pictured above are AYVA’s president Dianne Beveridge, and her colleagues Laureena Ssali and Shanil Vaja. Ashley Fitzgerald of KUKA Robotics was also on hand to demonstrate and answer any questions from students and teachers.

Top student representatives from across Canada competed in their respective fields at the National Skills Competition held in Toronto on June 5 & 6.

AYVA was amongst the 70 employers, associations, labour groups, training institutions and government partners in attendance. AYVA provided a hands-on, interactive experience for students and teachers alike to try both a KUKA robot and our latest product line, SOLDAMATIC, an augmented-reality training program for welding. These activities were met with great success as many students and educators tried their hand at these demonstrations.

Congratulations to Jordan DeRooy from Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Kingston, ON who won the KUKA model robot in the AYVA draw.

Comprehensive Materials Testing Systems for Engineering Programs

Understanding the characteristics and performance of materials, and the effects of different forces on them, is at the very heart of engineering.

To help instructors teach these notions to students, PASCO and TecQuipment both offer a wide range of systems that will provide them with direct hands-on exposure to the principals involved.

PASCO

PASCO’s Materials Testing System allows for the study of tension, column buckling, bending and shearing.

This system is an excellent alternative for instructors looking for cost-efficient equipment allowing them to utilize the powerful Capstone software for data collection, analysis and video syncing.
