Description
- Experimentally determine a solubility curve
- Explore unsaturated, saturated, and supersaturated solutions
- Help students meet the Next Generation Science Standards Performance Expectation HS-PS1-3.: Plan and conduct an investigation to gather evidence to compare the structure of substances at the bulk scale to infer the strength of electrical forces between particles.
Students explore types of mixtures and the factors that affect solubility. In the first activity, students investigate the effects of pressure and temperature on the solubility of a gas in a liquid, identify different types of mixtures, and experiment with miscible and immiscible liquids. After determining the solubility curve of a substance, students apply what they’ve learned and design reusable hand warmers. Kit includes enough materials for at least 30 students working in groups of 3. Receive a FREE digital Teacher’s Manual and Student Guide with kit purchase.
