Biorama™ preparation. This simple, effective display demonstrates Mendel’s laws—the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment—using pea shape and color. A homozygous dominant parent is crossed with a homozygous recessive parent, yielding the F1 generation. The F1 generation offspring are crossed, showing the 4 combinations of traits in the classic 9:3:3:1 ratio. The mount features solid-colored marbles representing dominant alleles and semi-transparent marbles representing recessive alleles. Genetic crossing is labeled and represented in a 12 x 16″ glass-fronted display case.
