Eisco® Garage Physics™: Projectile Motion Slingshot Kit

Product Code: 751614

Description

Investigate projectile motion with this Ping-Pong® ball-launching projectile motion slingshot. Made of precisely cut birch veneer PureBond® plywood, it features angled supports that provide launch angles from 5 to 45° in 5° increments. Students can estimate the initial velocity for various rubber band settings by recording the ball’s flight time. By tipping the slingshot and breaking the initial velocity into its horizontal and vertical components, range can be predicted and measured. With lessons in the included step-by-step educational guide, students experimentally determine the spring constant (Hooke’s law) for the rubber band and perform kinetic energy and potential energy calculations. This slingshot can launch a Ping-Pong® ball more than 30 ft with 2 rubber bands; its range can be increased significantly with additional rubber bands. Addresses the following Next Generation Science Standards*: MS-PS2-2, MS-PS3-2, HS-PS3-1, HS-PS3-4, HS-PS2-2, and HS-PS2-3. Requires assembly—no tools needed.
