The timer starts when the electromagnet releases a steel ball and continues to record as the ball passes through 3 photogates over a 1.5-m drop. Determining the period of a pendulum is also quick and easy with the included equipment. The pendulum passes through a single photogate, which captures the time between each pass. Each pass is one period of the pendulum. Instructions contain 3 procedures for determining acceleration because of gravity and the procedure for determining the period of a pendulum.
