Pill bugs and sow bugs are fantastic examples of environmental adaptation. They’re crustaceans that live on land – yet breathe through gills! Porcellio (sow bugs) will play dead or run away when disturbed. Armadillidium (pill bugs) roll into a protective ball when nudged. Use these easy-care animals to teach topics such as evolution, adaptation, behavior, and much more. Also recommended for use with AP® Lab 11: Animal Behavior.
