Description
Great for small groups or for students who are learning at home!
Grades 6–12. Get set to power up your students’ learning. Students build a prototype water turbine after learning about energy transformations and viewing several different examples. After the build, they test their water turbines to see how quickly or how far they can lift a paper clip on the end of a 50-cm length of string, a proxy for energy generation in a hydroelectric plant, using 100 mL of falling water. Then students are challenged to improve their water turbines as they consider the lessons learned from their first tests.
Materials support a single student or a small group of students. Includes instructions.
