Description
Grades 9-12.
-
- Set up composting bins
- Take weekly temperature measurements of the core and the exterior of the compost
- Graph the temperature changes during the composting process
- Describe ways to reduce personal waste
Students study the science of composting right in the classroom. They construct a simulation of a small composting bin with both organic and inorganic waste items. They then analyze the process of decomposition in the composting bin over the course of a 4- to 5-week period through observations and temperature readings. With this kit, students experience real-life composting using vermicomposting.
Kit accommodates 32 students working in groups of 4 and includes a voucher to request the perishable material later at your convenience. Contact us or return the voucher at least 2 weeks prior to requested delivery date to ensure prompt arrival of material.
