Description
Grade 9-College.
The Lake Carson City Park is in desperate need of your help. An algal bloom has broken out in the lake, and it is threatening to shut down local businesses and send this vacation paradise into a downward spiral. Biology students jump into the role of forensic scientists as they work to solve this fictional crime. Using deductive reasoning and scientific methodology, they process evidence from the crime scene and integrate concepts—such as data analysis and scientific writing—to help build a compelling case. Students stay engaged throughout the investigation as they conduct microscopy on algae and use a macroinvertebrate key to determine aquatic community health. This compelling kit brings forensic science into your biology classroom.
The kit is designed for 32 students working in 8 groups of 4 and includes a voucher to request perishable material later at your convenience.
