Description
Grades 7–12.
Students learn how to map physical space just like a forensic science investigator in this lab, including how to:
- Properly document a crime scene with photos
- Create a field sketch
- Create a refined map to scale using the rectangular or coordinate system, compass point system, baseline system, or triangulation system
They learn how to use a microscope and their unaided eyes to master these techniques. This activity includes all the tools teachers and students need to conduct the lab (except for microscope(s), not included). Based on details from the Diablo Highway™: Full Kit (item #212188) crime scene, this lab can also be used as a standalone activity.
