Description
Grades 7–12.
Students learn how to identify the characteristics of common fibers such as cotton, wool, linen, and silk in this lab. They learn the origins and the characteristics of these fibers and how to identify them when viewed through a microscope. Students also learn to recognize weaves in fabrics.
This activity includes all the tools teachers and students need to conduct the lab (except for microscope(s), not included). Based on details from the Diablo Highway™: Full Kit (item #212188) crime scene, this lab can also be used as a standalone activity.
