Description

Product Details

Beginning—Easy to perform, requires little or no prior knowledge.

The ChromoSock® Meiosis Kit helps students overcome the challenge of visualizing and understanding meiosis by using specialty socks that vary in size, length, and color to simulate chromosomes.

The kit activities introduce meiosis as students model the behavior of chromosomes during a reduction division and relate it to the maintenance of chromosome number during sexual reproduction. Students model and document each stage of meiosis using the included ChromoSock® specialty socks. Additionally, students recreate a meiotic event with nondisjunction and relate these changes in chromosome number to monosomy and trisomy. Students can build a strong conceptual foundation using the easy-to-understand tool of socks.
