The molecular biology kit uses 2 bacterial cell types and 2 color-generating plasmids to teach DNA expression, inheritance, and sterile technique. The lab extends beyond classic transformation technique because it is put in context with the engineering concept of “chassis selection” when choosing the best host cell. Results are easy to analyze because the colors are visible to the naked eye, and students can observe how their structural framework alters the colors they see.
Includes enough materials for 24 students working in 6 groups. Kit includes perishable materials when shipped. Note: Use perishable materials within 1 week of receipt.
