Product Details
Perch are vertebrates in the class Osteichthyes, the bony fishes. These are the traditional dissection specimens used in life science courses when studying the external and internal anatomy of bony fish. Unlike the other classes of fish, these specimens possess a bony skeleton, an operculum that covers the gills, and a swim bladder.
As students dissect the perch, they:
- Explore the connection between structure and function
- Study regulation and behavior
- Investigate bony fish adaptations
Product Features

Carosafe®
Carosafe® preservative and holding solution for biological specimens contains no formaldehyde and is not a tissue fixative. Most Carosafe® specimens were first preserved with a formalin solution and then washed before placement in Carosafe®. Specimens are held in Carosafe® prior to shipment, producing formalin-preserved specimens that, when dissected, minimize formaldehyde exposure.
