Description
Preserved cats are popular dissection specimens for anatomy and physiology labs. Their large size and extended anatomical position allow students to easily examine all mammalian organ systems. These specimens are ideal for upper-level students because they allow:
- In-depth study of the mammalian muscular system
- Detailed examination of the circulatory, reproductive, and nervous systems
- Removal of individual organs for dissection
- Long-term use with proper handling and storage
Product Features
- Triple injected (red arteries, blue systemic veins, yellow hepatic system) for detailed examination of the circulatory system; please note that appendicular veins may not be entirely filled due to valve closures
- Soaked in Carosafe®, then individually packed and shipped in a vacuum-sealed bag for easy distribution
- Free plastic bags and waterproof student name tags are included with each cat
- Prices listed are for 1 specimen
Carosafe®
Carosafe® preservative and holding solution for biological specimens contains no formaldehyde and is not a tissue fixative. Most Carosafe® specimens were first preserved with a formalin solution and then washed before placement in Carosafe®. Specimens are held in Carosafe® prior to shipment, producing formalin-preserved specimens that, when dissected, minimize formaldehyde exposure.
Important Notice
Governmentally operated or regulated humane shelters furnish euthanized cats that would be destined for the landfill were they not reutilized for science classrooms. Carolina is proud to have an outstanding USDA inspection and compliance record, and we are committed to treating all animals in a humane manner.
