Description
Aquaponics is a rapidly growing industry and hobby that combines traditional aquaculture and modern hydroponic systems. Aquaculture involves raising aquatic animals including fish, snails, crayfish, or other crustaceans, while hydroponics is the process of growing plants without a soil substrate. Aquaponics combines the 2 by allowing the hydroponic plants to draw nutrients from the excretion of the aquaculture. The symbiotic relationship between the aquaculture and hydroponics gives students a hands-on opportunity to view and monitor the water quality elements of an aquaponics system. This test kit allows your students to test:
- Ammonia
- Nitrite
- Nitrate
- pH
- Iron (ferrous and ferric)
- Alkalinity
- Dissolved Oxygen
Uses comparator and direct-reading titration methods. Comes with enough materials to perform 50 tests of each nutrient and includes reagents, labware, accessories, and instructions in a foam-lined carrying case. Tests are compatible with fresh, brackish, and salt water.
