Description
Grade 11–College. The Carolina® Mechanics System 2 Physics Kit comes with 36 components, including all tubes and vessels needed to investigate core concepts in introductory fluid mechanics. Kit has enough materials for 1 group of 2 to 4 students to perform all the activities. Kit components come in a metal ballistics case with high-density foam inserts for easy storage and long life. Needed but not supplied materials include bromic acid, acetone or alcohol, and distilled water for rinsing glassware.
With this kit students can conduct a series of classic experiments that cover Pascal’s principle, Mariotte’s bottle, Toricelli’s principle, Boyle’s law, and more. The activities focus on general concepts of pressure, ideal gases, ideal fluids, and manipulating formulas to calculate pressure and behavior of fluids. The labs also help students become familiar with the Venturi tube and the Ostwald viscometer. The included experiment guide covers 14 activities:
- Water Pouring from a Spout
- Mariotte’s Bottle
- The Force Pump
- Discovering Boyle’s Law Using a Syringe
- Pascal’s Ball Apparatus
- Communicating Vessels
- Finding the Density of a Liquid with a U-Tube
- Open Tube Manometer
- Hare’s Apparatus
- Cartesian Diver
- Bernoulli’s Principle
- Venturi’s Tube
- The Ostwald Viscometer
- Capillary Tube
