Description
Watch out for the catapult! Students shoot ping-pong balls over 20 ft and explore the history, physics, and geometry of catapults. They learn information related to force, acceleration, center of mass, vectors, Hooke’s law, parabolic trajectories, and class 2 levers. Supports NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards®) 3-PS2-1 and 2 Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions, MS-PS2-2 Plan an investigation to provide evidence that the change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass of the object, and HS-PS2-1 Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration. Includes enough materials for 1 group of students and an instruction manual with NGSS correlations and assembly instructions. Designed for elementary and middle school but suitable for older students studying mathematics, physics, and physical science. A Phillips-head screwdriver is needed for assembly but not included.
