Description
Colorful all-plastic anemometer does not rust. Can be handheld for easy student use. Features the m/s and Beaufort scales printed on 2 sides of the shaft, with 1 side indicating “Low” and the other side “High.” The movement of the 4 cups slides the gauge upwards on the shaft to the corresponding wind speed in both the m/s and Beaufort scales.
Beaufort scale
This anemometer measures 0-6 (full range of the Beaufort scale is 0-12).
Low
Use for wind speed readings taken at heights below 10 meters. Max reading is 9 m/s, though generally at this altitude max wind velocities may be observed at 6 m/s. At low altitudes, wind has low velocity due to turbulence caused by structures.
High
Use for wind speed readings taken at heights above 10 meters. Max reading is 11 m/s. At high altitudes, wind flow is more persistent without hindrance or obstruction in its path.
Has pre-drilled holes for optional pole attachment (mounting hardware needed but not included). Base to shaft measures 10-3/4″, cups span 7-1/2″, outside cup diameter is 2″, and total device height is 12″. Includes instructions.
