Description
The Laser Diffraction Set enables students to create, observe, and measure diffraction and interference patterns. Classic single- and double-slit diffraction experiments can be performed with the provided bright Class 3R red and green lasers. Using the lasers, students can compare the diffraction patterns of different wavelengths together. The set includes 4 slides:
- Double slit, variable slit widths (3 values)
- Double slit, variable slit separations (4 values)
- Single slit (5 slit width values)
- Diffraction grating (300 lines per mm)
Students can also experimentally determine the effect of slit width and separation (double-slit experiments) and compare their results with the equations’ predictions. The included activity guide describes the background and procedures for several experiments and provides the equations for single- and double-slit diffraction experiments. This set also includes a laser pointer holder (to securely hold the laser in place for precision and provide slots for the slides) plus a toggle clip to turn the laser on and off. Each laser requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).
