Description
- Observe an extreme endothermic reaction between 2 solid compounds.
- High school teacher-led, student-engaged demonstration with enough materials for 6 performances.
- Carolina Kits 3D®—Labs that use phenomena to support NGSS and 3-dimensional instruction.
Students observe an extreme endothermic reaction between 2 solid compounds. They are provided real-world context relevant to endothermic reactions and asked to draw upon their prior knowledge to predict the outcome of the demonstration. Students demonstrate their grasp of the scientific concepts underlying the demonstration through a particle-level explanation and critical thinking.
Time Requirement
Total, 30 minutes. Teacher prep, 15 minutes. Demonstration and discussion, 15 minutes.
Digital Resources
Includes 1-year access to digital resources that support 3-dimensional instruction for NGSS. Digital resources may include a teacher’s manual and student guide, pre-lab activities and setup videos, phenomenon videos, simulations, and post-lab analysis and assessments.
