Carolina Investigations® for Use with AP® Environmental Science: Exploring Biodiversity 1-Station Kit

Product Code: 180816

Description

Investigate the invertebrate community in your area! This kit provides 3 different labs to demonstrate various methods to collect and evaluate invertebrate diversity. Students collect soil samples and use Berlese funnels to isolate the invertebrates, evaluate the use of other insect traps, and test baits as a way to collect and observe insects. Students then quantify biodiversity using 3 indices: species richness, Shannon-Wiener, and Simpson’s. They use graphing and data analysis to accurately assess the area’s insect diversity.

Product Features

  • The materials in the kit are sufficient for 32 students working in groups of 4.
  • Digital teacher’s manual, included FREE with kit purchase, is a 12-month eBook license to the Exploring Biodiversity Teacher’s Manual and Student Guide.
