Nova Scotia – Science 10 – Environmental Connections
Sensor-based, hands-on activities are very helpful in addressing important objectives of the science 10 curriculum by enhancing authentic learning experiences and investigative science.
PASCO’s wireless sensors help students to develop the skills required for scientific and technological inquiry, for solving problems, for communicating scientific ideas and results, for working collaboratively, and for making informed decisions.
All of your sensors connect to SPARKvue in the same way. This video explains how to connect a sensor wirelessly and to get started collecting data!
Getting Started With PASCO’s Temperature, pH, CO2, Motion, Weather & Soil Moisture Sensors
Your new PASCO wireless sensors enable students to easily collect, record and analyze data within the SPARKvue software to support an enormous array of investigations. In the classroom, the sensors enhance engagement by providing students with instant and informative feedback as recorded measurements are immediately displayed in graphs, tables, charts and meters. For longer term classroom and field investigations, many sensors allow for remote data collection, where recorded measurements can be stored in the sensor’s internal memory.

‘How To’ Videos
Remote Data Logging Initiation
On the home screen on SPARKvue 4.0, you can select the option for Remote Logging. You will first be presented with the screen that shows the paired sensors and provide you the opportunity to pair additional sensors to SPARKvue. You will then be prompted for the sampling rate to use and the measurements within the sensor that you wish to monitor.
Apply the Waterproof Sleeve to the Wireless CO2 Sensor
How do I place the Waterproof Sleeve on the Wireless CO2 Sensor for making carbon dioxide measurements in soil or water?
Calibrate pH Electrode
How do I calibrate a pH sensor within SPARKvue 4.0 or beyond? To calibrate a pH electrode you will need two different value pH buffer solutions. Make sure to rinse the electode and carefully blot dry to prevent transferring solution between the buffer standards or diluting the standards with distilled water that clings to the electrode following rinsing.
